Farm Manager - Turmeric Project

About the role

Farmerline, an African Agtech company founded in 2013, is looking for an experienced Farm Manager to lead its Turmeric Project in the Ashanti and Volta Regions of Ghana and other regions as production scales up. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from field selection and farmer engagement to partnerships, monitoring and reporting, and aims to advance sustainable agriculture, soil conservation and farmers' economic empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute farm activities from land preparation to harvest, including planting, irrigation, weeding, fertilization and pest management
• Recruit, train and supervise farm workers and outgrowers, and implement GAPs for turmeric while monitoring crop health
• Manage budgets and keep accurate records of planting schedules, inputs and harvest data
• Coordinate outgrower partnerships, provide technical support and training, and monitor their performance
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards
• Oversee harvesting, storage, drying and processing of turmeric
• Take part in project planning and reporting, support grant applications and farmer engagement, and ensure health and safety compliance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture or a related field
• 2-5 years of farm management experience, preferably in turmeric or spice crop production
• Experience managing farm labor and working with outgrowers
• Ability to operate an irrigation system and must live in and around Weta and Avalavi
