Director of Finance

About the role

The Director of Finance reports directly to the President of Ghana Technology University College and is responsible for the overall financial management and administration of the institution. This senior officer provides strategic financial advice, ensures regulatory compliance, and oversees budgeting, reporting and treasury functions to safeguard the university’s financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance directorate, providing regular financial updates and advice to the President and senior management.
• Prepare and present annual budgets, financial statements, accounts and estimates to the Academic Board and Council for approval.
• Manage cash flow, authorize payments, and ensure timely collection of monies due to the university.
• Maintain the university’s books of accounts and records in accordance with the Council’s requirements and the Auditor‑General’s standards.
• Produce consolidated accounts for all university units and facilitate internal and external audits.
• Advise on funding sources and ensure compliance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Membership of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g., ICA Ghana, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum ten years of post‑qualification experience, including at least four years in a senior finance role within a university or comparable institution, or fifteen years in a recognised firm, industry or public service.
• Proven record of integrity, leadership, communication and ICT competence.
