Director of Internal Audit

About the role

The University of Energy and Natural Resources is seeking a senior leader to head its Internal Audit Directorate. Reporting administratively to the Vice‑Chancellor and functionally to the Audit Committee, the Director will ensure compliance with the Internal Audit Agency Act and public financial management standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute periodic internal audits across all university functions.
• Assess the adequacy of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance frameworks.
• Prepare and present audit reports to the Vice‑Chancellor and Audit Committee.
• Ensure audit activities align with the Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 and the Public Financial Management Act, 2016.
• Lead, motivate, and develop the internal audit team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of audit standards, regulations, and best practices.
