About the role
The British Council is seeking a Director of Programmes to support the Country Director in delivering its strategic objectives across Ghana. This senior leadership position will oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of cultural and TVET programmes, ensuring they meet operational, financial and compliance targets.
Key responsibilities
- Lead operational delivery of the cultural engagement portfolio, managing resources and budgets.
- Ensure full compliance with corporate policies, including EDI, Child Protection, Health & Safety and security protocols.
- Drive business development and partnership opportunities aligned with the British Council’s vision.
- Provide line‑management and coaching to grant‑funded and co‑funded programme teams.
- Identify and implement change initiatives to improve processes and achieve planned benefits.
- Develop and execute regional TVET strategy, fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
Required profile
- Proven senior management experience in programme design, delivery and evaluation.
- Strong ability to support and deputise for a Country Director.
- Demonstrated success in partnership building and income generation.
- Excellent knowledge of compliance, risk management and governance standards.
- Experience leading change programmes and managing diverse teams.
