Environmental Economist – Research & Impact Assessment

About the role

The Energy Commission is seeking a results‑oriented Environmental Economist to join its Social, Environmental and Technological Impact Assessment Division. Reporting to the Head of Office, you will support the Commission’s mandate by providing rigorous research, monitoring and analysis of energy‑related projects across Ghana.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake research and baseline studies for energy projects.
• Develop and implement projects in collaboration with relevant agencies.
• Conduct impact monitoring for all programmes and projects.
• Review and analyse socio‑economic and environmental impacts of energy‑related initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Geography.
• Master’s degree in Economics, Environmental Science or Sociology with at least one year post‑qualification experience.
• Knowledge of research and analytical techniques.
• Understanding of project management and evaluation.
• High computer proficiency.
• Familiarity with the role of other regulators in the energy sector.
• Strong report‑writing and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and travel to remote areas of Ghana.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and a good team player.
