Liquor Category Coordinator

About the role

The Liquor Category Coordinator leads strategic growth, innovation and operational excellence for the liquor category across the region. Working closely with Buying, Store Operations, Marketing and Supply Chain, the role ensures customer‑centric liquor solutions that boost sales, margin and the overall shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a forward‑thinking liquor category strategy aligned with market trends and business objectives.
• Drive sales, gross margin and contribution targets through pricing, promotional optimisation and category management.
• Identify growth opportunities across wine, spirits, beer, cider, ready‑to‑drink and emerging categories.
• Analyse competitor activity, market trends and consumer preferences to enhance competitive positioning.
• Provide strategic guidance and operational support to store management, including inventory planning, promotional execution, compliance management and merchandising.
• Safeguard gross margin, stock integrity and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years’ management experience in liquor retail, FMCG, wholesale liquor, beverage distribution or a related retail environment.
• Relevant retail, commercial or business qualification (advantageous).
• Proven experience managing sales, gross margin, inventory, shrinkage and operational performance.
• Strong understanding of liquor legislation, licensing requirements and responsible alcohol retailing practices.
• Experience in category management, merchandising, promotional planning and retail operations.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with SAP.
• Knowledge of Power BI and other retail BI systems.
