Marine Control Room Operator

About the role

The Marine Control Room Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of control systems that manage crude oil cargo handling at our Ghana facility. This 24‑month fixed‑term position requires close coordination with surveyors, customs, and vessel pilots to ensure accurate cargo measurement and compliance with all operational procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Control, monitor, receive, store and discharge crude oil cargo and slops in accordance with procedures and standards.
• Calculate cargo quantities together with surveyors and customs, and prepare midnight cargo reports.
• Operate pumps for off‑take, transfer, COW, stripping, FLC and related operations.
• Maintain and monitor the inert gas system, and conduct venting of cargo tanks as required.
• Monitor vessel traffic to mitigate collision risk and act as flight follower for weather updates around the Jubilee fields.
• Prepare and manage permits/TRA for continuous and incoming job scopes.
• Perform routine and emergency ballasting/de‑ballasting and update the Maintenance Management System.
• Serve as area authority for the cargo area (excluding cranes) and act as Coxswain for lifeboat inspections.

Required profile

• Experience in marine control room or similar offshore cargo handling environment.
• Ability to work with surveyors, customs officials and vessel pilots.
• Strong understanding of safety management systems and HSE procedures.
• Capability to prepare accurate cargo reports and discharge plans.
