Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Officer – West Africa

About the role
The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer will support the design, implementation and reporting of MEL activities for the Investments in Forests and Sustainable Land Use Programme (IFSLU2) across West Africa. Based in Accra, the officer will work closely with the regional team to embed MEL practices, promote gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) mainstreaming, and ensure effective coordination of designated projects.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver MEL interventions for IFSLU2 components 1 and 2.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation at project and field levels, producing reports and learning products.
- Support grantees in developing MEL plans and reporting results.
- Collaborate with the regional team on project selection, impact assessment, and knowledge‑product development.
- Lead learning and capacity‑development activities for partners and internal staff.
- Act as Project Officer for assigned projects, ensuring coordination and implementation.
Required profile
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation of development or environmental projects.
- Familiarity with forest, sustainable land‑use, and climate‑related programmes.
- Understanding of GESI mainstreaming principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a regional team and manage multiple stakeholders.
