About the role
We are seeking a senior Planning, Controlling & Reconciliation Manager to lead financial planning, budgeting and reconciliation activities within the insurance sector. The role will ensure robust financial systems, accurate reporting and effective risk mitigation across our operations in Accra and the Tema region.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the business planning and budgetary process, including budgets, capital expenditure, monitoring and re‑forecasts.
- Ensure effective financial systems, controls and processes are in place and used throughout the company.
- Assist in preparing documentation and reports for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Develop and update written policies and procedures for the financial reporting process.
- Collaborate with Reporting and Tax teams to deliver high‑quality, timely financial reports.
- Monitor cash flows, interpret trends and predict future cash requirements.
- Implement operational procedures to meet service level agreements within the finance department.
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and recommend process improvements.
- Detect potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Perform timely bancassurance reconciliation, investigate discrepancies and coordinate with bank representatives and the Payables unit.
- Provide comprehensive financial accounting and reporting services across segments (MM, CC, Branch, Line of Business, Channel, agents).
- Prepare group and regulatory reports and produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS 17 and other statutory requirements.
Required profile
- Senior‑level professional with at least 8 years (96 months) of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of insurance accounting, IFRS 17, NIC provisions and prudential reporting.
- Familiarity with the Income Tax Act 896 and related compliance.
- Proven ability to analyse financial data, monitor cash flows and manage budgeting cycles.
- Excellent attention to detail and capability to work cross‑functionally with reporting, tax and payables teams.
