Security and Safety Officer

About the role

The Security and Safety Officer supports the Regional Integrated Programme Manager and Country Security Manager to identify, assess and manage security and safety risks for World Vision’s Northern Regional Operations in Ghana. The role ensures a safe, secure and resilient environment for staff, assets and programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the National Office security strategic plan and risk assessments in line with World Vision policies.
• Support implementation and monitoring of core security requirements, manage critical incidents and conduct investigations.
• Represent World Vision at local NGO security network meetings and share information with staff.
• Coordinate security capacity building, briefings and training for staff, donors and partners.
• Prepare regular security reports, incident documentation and disseminate security information to leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years progressive experience in field security management, risk assessment, incident response or related humanitarian security roles.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Security Studies, Criminology, Risk Management, Disaster Management, International Relations, Law, Public Administration or related field.
• Valid passport, local and international driver’s licence and First Aid qualification.
• Ability to work under pressure, especially in crisis situations, and travel within the region.

Required skills

• Proficiency in French (verbal and written) for crisis communication.
• Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of security policies, risk mitigation and incident reporting procedures.
