Senior Accounting & Tax Officer – Insurance

About the role

The Senior Accounting & Tax Officer will support the insurance business in Accra and Tema by ensuring accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and strategic financial analysis. This position works closely with senior management to align financial outcomes with the company’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in consolidating financial data for group‑level reporting and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual statements in line with IFRS 17 and local regulations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure tracking and variance analysis across business units.
• Prepare and review management accounts, prudential reports, board financial packs and tax computations.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and generate cost statements comparing actuals to budgets.
• Coordinate tax compliance activities, including corporate income tax, VAT, payroll tax filings and the development of tax optimisation strategies.
• Identify and mitigate tax risks through robust internal controls and monitoring of regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure commercial priorities and financial targets are clearly understood and met.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance, preferably within the insurance sector.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 17, local GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to prepare consolidated financial statements and manage budgeting processes.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on cost control and profitability assessment.
