Senior Specialist, Mining Construction

About the role

The Senior Specialist, Mining Construction will lead and coordinate mining construction projects at the Obuasi Mine, ensuring safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of infrastructure and operational initiatives. You will act as the technical advisor for project execution, guaranteeing compliance with engineering standards and statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the coordination and execution of underground mining construction projects.
• Provide expert advice to ensure designs, engineering standards and the Mineral and Mining (Health and Safety and Technical) Regulations 2012 are adhered to.
• Develop construction procedures, documentation and level‑6 schedules to meet defined milestones.
• Allocate at least 30% of time to safety compliance and foster a zero‑harm culture.
• Maintain a minimum of 60% underground presence to validate designs and support execution teams.
• Facilitate communication between engineering, planning and construction teams.
• Collaborate with QA/QC engineers, manage documentation and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and resolve construction issues, including delays, safety concerns and supply‑chain constraints.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to AngloGold Ashanti’s values and safety culture.
• Proven experience leading mining construction projects in an underground environment.
• Strong ability to work onsite for the majority of the schedule.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
