Advisor, Material Management

About the role

Newmont's Ahafo South mine, Ghana's largest gold mine, is hiring an Advisor, Material Management for the Apensu Underground Project. The role provides supply and logistics support and performance analysis for project teams, procurement support when required, and helps ensure timely delivery, optimal inventory levels and safe, compliant warehouse operations.

Key responsibilities

• Run and maintain a satellite warehouse in Apensu, including assessing and supporting capital requirements for warehouse improvements
• Monitor warehouse safety protocols and compliance, and improve warehouse operating models with site partners
• Analyse and maintain inventory levels using demand-management tools, run stock counts and use forecasting models to predict material demand
• Optimise inventory to reduce outages, meet order-fill objectives and improve inventory-turn performance
• Provide inventory-control reports, support working-capital management, monitor stock ageing and maintain the enterprise inventory-planning system
• Reconcile materials supplied by the main contractor and support the end-to-end materials management process
• Collaborate with Enterprise Asset Management and maintenance planners to improve inventory processes and ensure material and parts readiness before transition to operations

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Business, Analysis, Supply Chain Management or Logistics, or in Building Technology (Quantity Surveying, Building Economics or Construction Management)
• 3-5 years of experience in project commercial, supply chain, warehousing, materials management, transportation and logistics in a demand-management or inventory-control capacity, in mining, construction, manufacturing or a related industry
• Ability to provide contracting and procurement services
• Foundation-level capability in warehouse management, safety compliance, inventory optimisation and capital planning

Required skills

• Expert capability in SAP, SAP Ariba and Oniqua, or comparable materials management, logistics and commercial technology solutions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Knowledge of warehouse structures, safety protocols and operating models
• Effective communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving
