Driver (Fleet, Engineering) - Obuasi Gold Mine

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is hiring a Driver for its Engineering/Shared Services department at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The driver is accountable for company driving functions in line with the code of practice for the safe use of company vehicles, covering fleet and journey management so that all journeys are carried out properly and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and operate assigned vehicles for official company assignments, transporting materials and personnel as instructed.
• Carry out daily pre-start checks and report any anomalies, defects or faults for repair.
• Recognise signs of maintenance needs and report them; maintain vehicles as appropriate and support accident investigations.
• Stop driving in unsafe conditions and report to the Supervisor, following government, environmental, health and safety laws and AGAG regulations.
• Prevent environmental pollution, follow the site Environmental Management Plan and report incidents.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams on the movement of materials and people, and attend required training and meetings.
• Report directly to the Transport Officer on operational issues and carry out other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High School Certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum of a DVLA Class C licence.
• Must pass the AGAG pre-employment health test for drivers.
• 1-2 years of experience in equipment operation roles.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DVLA, insurance, road safety and mining regulations.
• Ability to communicate technical issues orally and in writing, and to work with all levels of personnel.
• Problem-solving ability and teamwork.
