Business Development Director – Fiat/Crypto Partnerships

About the role

The Business Development Director will lead the regional strategy to grow fiat on‑ramp and off‑ramp services across Africa, forging and managing banking and payment partnerships for a global fintech company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a regional business development strategy for fiat rails, identifying and engaging banks, PSPs and other payment partners.
• Lead commercial negotiations, onboard partners, and manage ongoing relationships to expand payment coverage and improve fiat on‑ramp/off‑ramp services.
• Coach and manage a regional business development team, setting targets and ensuring accountability for results.
• Collaborate with operations, product, engineering and compliance teams to support partner integrations and maintain high‑quality payment services.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and regulatory matters to inform product and growth strategies.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in business development, sales or strategic partnerships within financial services, fintech, payments or digital assets.
• Proven track record sourcing, negotiating and onboarding banking and payment partnerships across African markets.
• Experience leading and managing a business development or sales team, with strong commercial judgment and data‑driven decision making.
• Fluency in English and strong communication skills for international stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of fiat payment rails, local payment methods, cross‑border payments and on‑ramp/off‑ramp services.
• Hands‑on prospecting, negotiation and deal‑closing abilities.
• Ability to interpret sales, marketing and operational metrics to drive performance.
