Business Development Officer - Insurance Broking

About the role

Areté Insurance Brokers is looking for a Business Development Officer in Greater Accra. The role is central to the firm's success: it builds trusted client relationships and delivers personalised insurance solutions by engaging prospects, running consultations and recommending tailored policies. It also covers ongoing client support such as policy reviews after life changes, accurate documentation and clear communication of coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and connect with potential clients through targeted outreach and relationship building.
• Conduct consultations by phone and in person to assess insurance needs and explore options.
• Recommend customised policies and present approved ones with clear explanations of benefits, risks and terms.
• Review and update policies for existing clients following major life events.
• Complete client applications, generate quotes, maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
• Stay informed on industry trends, market shifts and regulatory changes.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, and contribute to national initiatives promoting insurance literacy.
• Verify the accuracy and quality of policies, reports, training materials and marketing content, and ensure work meets brokerage standards, budget guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Support team collaboration and professional development, and perform other duties as assigned.
