Child Protection Officer – Climate Resilience (Junior Professional)

About the role

The Child Protection Officer (Junior Professional Officer) supports UNICEF Ghana’s Child Protection Programme by integrating climate‑change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and humanitarian‑development linkages into national child protection systems.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen evidence and frameworks linking climate change and child protection, including data analysis and stakeholder engagement for the Child Protection and Climate Change study.
• Contribute to the development of a national framework for climate‑resilient child protection systems.
• Provide technical support to embed climate‑related risk markers into the Social Welfare Information Management System (SWIMS).
• Operationalise the Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Contingency Work Plan and align it with national disaster management structures.
• Support coordination of the National Child Protection in Emergency Working Group and deliver training on humanitarian principles, child protection standards, and gender‑based violence.
• Assist in preparing emergency programme plans, reports and appeals for donors and partners.
• Participate in inter‑agency humanitarian working groups and contribute to programme development, monitoring and results delivery.

Required profile

• Junior‑level professional with experience in child protection, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction or humanitarian coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to work with national and sub‑national stakeholders and to produce evidence‑based analyses.
• Strong communication and coordination skills for multi‑sectoral collaboration.
