CIC Technician – Underground (Mining)

About the role

The CIC Technician – Underground will support the refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of control, instrumentation and communication (CIC) systems in the Obuasi underground mine. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of equipment through systematic inspections, data collection and corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned and corrective maintenance on underground CIC equipment, excluding winding systems.
• Perform visual, infrared, ultrasonic, motor‑current, flux and simple NDT inspections on a scheduled basis.
• Collect and analyse vibration, IR and other condition‑monitoring data to assess plant health.
• Generate work requests in SAP for maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Assist the CIC Supervisor in developing condition‑monitoring routes and continuous‑improvement actions.
• Participate in root‑cause failure analysis and maintenance review programmes.
• Identify and propose cost‑reduction initiatives and savings projects.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure timely execution of refurbishment work.

Required profile

• Experienced in underground CIC maintenance and predictive‑maintenance techniques.
• Self‑motivated, safety‑conscious and able to work under total‑quality‑management principles.
• Familiar with Ghanaian mining safety and environmental regulations.

Required skills

• Instrumentation, communication and control system maintenance.
• Infrared, ultrasonic and non‑destructive testing (NDT) data collection.
• Vibration analysis and motor‑current/flux diagnostics.
• Predictive‑maintenance data analysis and trend reporting.
• SAP work‑request creation and maintenance planning.
• Use of portable condition‑monitoring tools and data collectors.
