Mechanical Supervisor – Processing Plant

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. The Mechanical Supervisor – Processing Plant will lead the mechanical maintenance team to ensure high plant availability, safety and cost‑effectiveness during the transition from project to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical refurbishment and maintenance of the processing plant, coordinating work orders, breakdown response and preventive actions.
• Lead a team of mechanical fitters, fabricators and boilermakers, ensuring compliance with total quality management and zero‑defect objectives.
• Generate and schedule work requests in SAP PM, monitor condition‑monitoring data, and participate in root‑cause failure analysis.
• Develop and implement condition‑monitoring routes, vibration diagnostics and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Report plant asset condition, performance and compliance with the Environmental Management Plan to the Mechanical Superintendent.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in mechanical maintenance of metallurgical processing plants.
• Experience managing maintenance and repair contracts (MARC) and using SAP PM.
• Sectional Engineer’s Certificate of Competency issued by the Mineral Commission of Ghana.
• Strong analytical, project‑management and commercial awareness.

Required skills

• SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module.
• Mechanical maintenance and refurbishment techniques for mining/metallurgical equipment.
• Condition‑monitoring tools and vibration analysis for rotating machinery.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel.
