Deputy Director of Operations

About the role

The University of Ghana is seeking a Deputy Director of Operations to support the Director of Safety and Security Services. This senior position will help oversee campus security operations and may act as Director in their absence.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as liaison officer to monitor and coordinate contract security services.
• Coordinate activities of Sector Officers in Command (OICs) and ensure discipline within sectors.
• Organise and deliver training for OICs.
• Enforce all university security directives and policies.
• Monitor security equipment and systems.
• Coordinate security operations with local law‑enforcement agencies.

Required profile

• First university degree plus a Master’s in Security Management or a related field.
• Professional security certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Physical Security Professional, Professional Certified Investigator).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in security services or management.
• Retired military officers (rank Major or above) or retired police officers (Superintendent or above) preferred.
• Eligible to serve a full four‑year term before reaching age 60.
• Campus security experience is desirable but not mandatory.
