Director of Research, Innovation, and Outreach

About the role

The Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) at the University of Cape Coast is seeking a visionary leader to head its Research, Innovation, and Outreach Directorate. Reporting directly to the Director‑General, the Director will shape the Institute’s research agenda, drive innovative projects, and expand community outreach across national and international networks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with the Governing Board’s approved Strategic Plan and institutional mission.
• Ensure compliance with statutory policies, governance frameworks, and operational standards.
• Lead strategic planning, policy formulation, implementation, and review for research, innovation, and outreach activities.
• Foster a culture of innovation throughout research processes and service delivery.
• Coordinate and develop the Institute’s research agenda, promoting interdisciplinary and trans‑disciplinary collaborations.
• Identify, secure, and manage funding opportunities and grants from national and international bodies.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of high‑quality research proposals.
• Promote the publication of scholarly outputs, including journals, books, and other academic contributions.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in research management, innovation leadership, or related academic administration.
• Demonstrated ability to secure and manage external research funding.
• Strong track record of interdisciplinary collaboration and scholarly publication.
• Excellent understanding of higher‑education governance and strategic planning.
