Director, Research, Innovation & Outreach

About the role

The Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA), a UNESCO Category II Institute at the University of Cape Coast, is recruiting its Director of Research, Innovation and Outreach. Reporting to the Director-General, the role leads a directorate responsible for shaping the Institute's research agenda, fostering innovation and extending its reach to communities worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the directorate, ensuring alignment with the Governing Board's Strategic Plan and institutional mission, and oversee the formulation, implementation and review of relevant policies.
• Coordinate the Institute's research agenda, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, secure and manage national and international funding, and support the publication of scholarly outputs.
• Advise management on research-informed teaching, learning and policy engagement, and track KPIs for research output, funding and impact.
• Design and run outreach programmes that share research findings with stakeholders and communities, and represent the Institute on national and international platforms.
• Build partnerships with peer institutions, research networks and international organisations, and lead the directorate's human resources, budget, audit and risk management.

Required profile

• Citizen of an ECOWAS member state.
• PhD with proven professional experience in education or a closely related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in a university or academic/research institution, with significant leadership in a senior role.
• Not older than 55 years by the date of appointment.
• Proven international exposure and a strong network of international collaborators.

Required skills

• Visionary leadership, strategic acumen and executive management experience with governing boards.
• Relationship management and global networking.
• Digital and technological fluency with research infrastructure and data management platforms.
