Driver - Fleet, Engineering

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is hiring a Driver for its Engineering/Shared Services department at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The role covers all driving-related duties, including fleet and journey management, and ensures that journeys are carried out properly and on time in line with company policies. It reports directly to the Transport Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and operate assigned vehicles for official company assignments, transporting materials and personnel as instructed.
• Carry out daily pre-start checks and report any anomalies, defects or faults for repair.
• Maintain assigned vehicles and support accident investigations where required.
• Stop operation immediately when a high-risk or unsafe condition exists and report it to the Supervisor.
• Comply with government agency requirements, environmental, health and safety legislation, and AGAG regulations; follow the site Environmental Management Plan and report environmental deviations.
• Report incidents, interface with contractors and construction teams on material and personnel movements, and attend required training and meetings.
• Work in a timely, cost-effective way and support project schedules and milestones.

Required profile

• High School Certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum of a DVLA Class C license.
• Must pass the AGAG pre-employment health test for drivers.
• 1-2 years of experience in equipment operation roles.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DVLA, insurance, road safety and other regulatory requirements, and of vehicle and driver licensing and mining regulations.
• Ability to communicate technical issues orally and in writing, and to work with people at all levels.
• Problem-solving ability and ability to re-prioritize tasks.
