Electrical Technician (MV) – Surface Mine Infrastructure

About the role

The Electrical Technician (MV) for Surface Mine Infrastructure will support the refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of high‑voltage plant equipment at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi mine. The role reports to the Electrical Supervisor (HV) and works on tasks such as incoming Ghana Electric feed, HV distribution, transformers, motors and generator sets, ensuring safe and compliant operation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute plant electrical maintenance on HV distribution, transformers, HV motors and generator sets, including breakdown repairs on call.
• Perform electrical refurbishment work in line with Ghana government and AGAG safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct daily pre‑start checks of equipment and tools, and prepare checklists and required tools for each task.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams to coordinate mechanical and electrical refurbishment activities.
• Identify and report equipment anomalies, escalating issues as needed.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and close work orders in SAP upon completion.

Required profile

• Certificate of successful completion of a recognized HV electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years post‑apprenticeship experience in an HV industrial environment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Fully literate and numerate.
