Electrical Technician – Underground

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to carry out electrical maintenance and refurbishment of underground infrastructure, ensuring safety and compliance with Ghanaian regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance on secondary fans, sub‑stations, and cable systems in the underground mine.
• Execute refurbishment tasks, conduct daily pre‑start equipment checks, and report any anomalies.
• Collaborate with contractors and construction teams to coordinate mechanical and electrical work.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and close work orders in SAP.
• Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a certified electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years of post‑apprenticeship experience in electrical maintenance.
• Ability to work safely in an underground mining environment and take personal responsibility for health and safety.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance of fans, sub‑stations and cable installations.
• Use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Proficiency with SAP for work‑order management.
• Competence in performing pre‑start checks and equipment inspections.
