Electrical Technician – Underground

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to carry out electrical maintenance and refurbishment on secondary fans, sub‑stations, cable runs and related underground infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance tasks on underground equipment in line with Ghanaian government and AGAG safety regulations.
• Perform daily pre‑start checks of tools and equipment, report any anomalies and ensure safe working conditions.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams for mechanical and electrical refurbishment works.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and close work orders in SAP upon completion.
• Maintain compliance with the site Environmental Management Plan and health & safety legislation.

Required profile

• Secondary education level with a certified electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years of post‑apprenticeship experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in mining or heavy‑industry environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely in underground settings and to follow strict regulatory requirements.
