Electrical Technician – Winders

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced Electrical Technician to maintain and refurbish the winding system and associated plant equipment. The role involves working on winders, winder houses lighting, signals, shaft bank areas, de‑watering and conveyor systems on a shift basis, ensuring safety and compliance with Ghanaian regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical refurbishment and routine maintenance on winders, winder houses, lighting, signals and related plant equipment.
• Carry out daily pre‑start checks of tools and equipment and report any anomalies.
• Collaborate with contractors and construction teams on mechanical and electrical tasks for refurbishment projects.
• Complete work orders in SAP and provide data to the Maintenance Planner.
• Ensure all activities comply with Government of Ghana, AGAG regulations and LI2182 safety requirements.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a certified mechanical/electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• At least five years of post‑apprenticeship experience in an electrical trade, specifically on winding equipment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining health and safety legislation.
• Ability to work shift patterns (3‑day shift, 5‑day regular).

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance of winding equipment.
• Operation and troubleshooting of winder houses, lighting and signal systems.
• Use of SAP for work order management.
• Knowledge of LI2182 safety standards.
