Electrical Winder Engineer

About the role

The Winder Engineer – Electrical is responsible for monitoring, controlling and maintaining the winding equipment used in the underground mining operation at Obuasi. The role ensures equipment compliance, safety and optimal availability while supporting the mine’s strategic objective of a modern, efficient and profitable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control the quality of maintenance for winding equipment to maximise plant availability.
• Apply HSE regulations and safety standards with zero tolerance for breaches.
• Conduct inspections, audits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and ensure compliance with the Safety Management System.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses, incidents and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Collect and report data on construction, refurbishment and maintenance activities in line with Ghanaian government approvals and the site Environmental Management Plan.
• Analyse process interruptions using improvement tools and implement corrective actions.
• Define roles and accountabilities for sub‑teams, recruit and appoint staff according to company policy and localisation goals.
• Prepare and execute training and development plans for ongoing operations.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience (approximately 10 years) in electrical engineering within mining or heavy‑industry environments.
• Self‑motivated, experienced in leading safety‑focused teams.
• Ability to work onsite in Kumasi and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
