Engineering Manager – MAAS

About the role

Canonical is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead its MAAS (Metal as a Service) team. You will guide a distributed group of engineers in delivering a hyperscale provisioning platform that automates bare‑metal server deployment, networking and storage.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a geographically distributed engineering team.
• Set technical direction, conduct code and architecture reviews, and ensure delivery of high‑quality software.
• Collaborate with related teams such as cloud‑init, LXD and public‑cloud projects.
• Represent the team at internal and external events, travelling 4‑6 weeks per year.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent with a strong academic record.
• Proven experience delivering software in Python, Go or similar languages.
• Deep familiarity with Linux system administration (Debian/Ubuntu preferred) and modern cloud technologies.
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
