Engineering Superintendent – Pastefill & Material Handling

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised, high‑efficiency operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Engineering Superintendent to lead the Pastefill and Material Handling engineering function, ensuring plant availability, safety and cost‑effective performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the Safety Management plan for pastefill and material handling assets.
• Provide technical input to the Underground Maintenance Manager and collaborate with Safety, Refurbishment, Planning, Technical Services and Construction managers.
• Monitor and enforce safety standards to achieve zero reportable incidents, zero compliance breaches and no public disclosures.
• Drive energy‑usage optimisation across the mine’s material handling systems.
• Establish and lead the Pastefill & Material Handling engineering team, defining structure and succession plans.
• Communicate policies and procedures to ensure full compliance and understanding.
• Develop and maintain a skills matrix, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Advise refurbishment projects on best‑practice engineering, review and sign‑off detailed execution, testing, commissioning and hand‑over plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering leadership within mining or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Strong safety focus with a track record of meeting zero‑incident targets.
• Ability to build and develop high‑performing technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills for policy dissemination and stakeholder coordination.
