Engineering Supervisor – Shaft Maintenance

About the role

The Engineering Supervisor – Shaft Maintenance will lead the shaft maintenance team at the Obuasi Gold Mine, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost‑effective operation of all shaft‑related activities. This role reports to the Shaft Engineering Management function and is critical to maintaining plant availability.

Key responsibilities

• Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance for breaches and promote a safety‑first culture.
• Coordinate, train, and monitor cage operators and shaft maintenance technicians.
• Oversee statutory inspections, material transport, and all shaft‑related jobs in compliance with LI2182 and Ghanaian approvals.
• Review, approve, and sign off shaft maintenance items against the Refurbishment Execution Plan, design specifications, testing plans, and commissioning documents.
• Ensure reporting meets cost, schedule, and quality targets as defined in the Feasibility Study.
• Identify and correct sub‑standard work practices through root‑cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain the shaft maintenance section of the Shaft Engineering Management Plan.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or equivalent HND/MET qualification.
• Minimum 5 years experience supervising shaft maintenance in an underground mining environment.
