Finance Manager - Mining Support Services

About the role

A growing mining support services company in Obuasi is looking for a Finance Manager to join its management team. The role reports to the Production Manager and sits on dotted line with the Group Chief Accountant / CFO. It combines financial management, management reporting, budgeting, financial controls, commercial analysis and finance systems, bridging Finance, Cost Accounting, Production, Operations and Group Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day financial management and accounting, prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, and drive budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow and variance analysis
• Monitor revenue, expenditure, margins, working capital and performance; support month-end, year-end and audit processes
• Support and optimise ERP finance modules (GL, AP, AR, cash management, fixed assets, budgeting and reporting); work with IT/ERP consultants to fix system issues and maintain master data and system integrity
• Strengthen financial controls and segregation of duties, monitor compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, and support tax compliance and audits
• Partner with Production and Operations on cost and performance management, analyse project, contract and operational costs and give financial insight for resource allocation
• Lead, coach and develop finance team members and work with Production, Procurement, Operations, HR and IT, staying aligned with Group Finance and senior management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
• At least five years' relevant experience, including significant Finance Manager-level or equivalent experience
• Strong practical knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, reporting and internal controls
• An MBA or postgraduate qualification, and ACCA, ICA, CIMA or equivalent part qualification, are an advantage
• Experience in mining, mining services, engineering, construction or other asset-intensive sectors is highly advantageous

Required skills

• Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, Sage or similar ERPs
• Management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow and variance analysis
• Financial accounting, month-end close, internal controls, audit and tax
• Team leadership, stakeholder management and clear communication of financial information to non-finance managers
