About the role
The University of Cape Coast seeks a senior leader to head its Communications and Public Relations function. Reporting to the Deputy Director‑General of Administration & General Services, the role provides strategic and operational direction for the university’s brand, media engagement and stakeholder advocacy across Ghana and the wider African region.
Key responsibilities
- Translate the university’s strategic plan into measurable communication and public‑relations campaigns that highlight research, training and policy advisory activities.
- Oversee brand and reputation management, ensuring compliance with co‑branding guidelines for the Institute and UNESCO.
- Build and maintain relationships with national, regional and international media, coordinating press conferences, interviews and official statements.
- Lead the creation and distribution of multimedia content, including videos, photography, blogs, newsletters and annual reports for the university’s website and channels.
- Document and publicise the university’s participation in international conferences, summits and governance meetings.
- Drive public‑facing advocacy initiatives targeting ministries, development partners, civil society and the broader public.
Required profile
- Senior‑level professional with at least five years (60 months) of relevant experience in communications, public relations or media management.
- Proven ability to advise senior leadership on media engagement, crisis communication and stakeholder advocacy.
- Experience working within academic or research institutions and familiarity with UNESCO frameworks is advantageous.
