Head of Engineering (.NET Core, React)

About the role

The Head of Engineering provides technical leadership across web, mobile, and backend platforms. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will own the end‑to‑end technical direction, drive architectural decisions, set engineering standards, and mentor a growing team of developers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce technical direction for web (React/Next.js), mobile (React Native), and backend (.NET Core) platforms.
• Make pragmatic architectural choices between modular monolith and microservices, applying Domain‑Driven Design principles.
• Set high standards for code quality, testing, API contracts, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Project Managers to clarify requirements, break epics into deliverable slices, and plan sprints and releases.
• Lead and mentor engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and the development of a strong engineering culture.
• Design and implement backend APIs, security fundamentals, resilient patterns, and database schemas with performance optimisation.
• Establish observability foundations for system health monitoring.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience as a software engineer or tech lead with full‑stack delivery ownership.
• Strong system‑design skills and ability to communicate architectural trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Hands‑on experience shipping production products across frontend, backend, and mobile.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
