Head of Operations

About the role

The Head of Operations will provide overall strategic direction for Ocean Network Express in Ghana, ensuring operational excellence while meeting commercial targets. Reporting to senior leadership, this role drives performance, profitability and strong vendor relationships across Accra and Tema.

Key responsibilities

• Define vision, strategy and performance targets for the operations team.
• Motivate and develop direct and indirect reports to achieve business objectives.
• Negotiate vendor costs, tariffs and contracts in collaboration with RHQ and Sub‑RHQ.
• Prepare management reports that support data‑driven decision‑making.
• Monitor departmental costs and identify savings opportunities.
• Lead cost‑vs‑revenue optimisation and ensure profit‑margin targets are met.
• Act as escalation point for operational issues before the Director level.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to improve process efficiency.
• Identify and implement best‑practice improvements and manage change initiatives.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience with at least 15 years (180 months) in operations management.
• Proven track record of leading large, cross‑functional teams.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to make profit‑focused decisions.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Commitment to health and safety standards in shipping operations.
