Head of Risk Management

About the role

The Head of Risk Management will lead the development and maintenance of Coastal Commerce Microfinance Ltd's risk management framework. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures that credit, liquidity, operational, market, technology, fraud and other material risks are identified, assessed and mitigated. The position plays a pivotal part in fostering a strong risk‑aware culture across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the institution’s risk management framework.
• Identify, assess and monitor credit, liquidity, operational, market, technology, fraud and other material risks.
• Establish risk monitoring and reporting mechanisms and prepare regular risk reports for senior management and governance bodies.
• Review risk exposures, recommend mitigation strategies and monitor the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Support business units in identifying and managing operational risks and monitor emerging risks affecting sustainability.
• Collaborate with Internal Audit and Compliance to strengthen risk and control frameworks.

Required profile

• Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in risk management, banking or financial services.
• Strong analytical, reporting, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• High ethical standards, integrity and proven leadership capability.
• Understanding of regulatory and corporate governance requirements in the financial sector.
