Information Security Lecturer

About the role

SIIMT University College is seeking a full-time Information Security Lecturer to join its Computer Science department in Accra. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate students the fundamentals and advanced concepts of information security, combining theoretical instruction with hands-on laboratory work.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical lab sessions covering network security, cybersecurity fundamentals, risk management and security governance.
• Design, update and maintain course materials, lesson plans, projects and assessments.
• Grade assignments, exams and provide constructive feedback to students.
• Offer academic advising, mentorship and support to students.
• Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings and quality-assurance activities.
• Stay current with industry trends and integrate real-world case studies into teaching.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, IT or related field; Master’s degree or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated teaching or training experience with ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience in Ghanaian or similar educational environments is an advantage.
• Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of firewalls.
• Experience with intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems.
• Understanding of encryption techniques.
• Ability to conduct vulnerability assessments.
• Incident response capabilities.
