Materials Handling Supervisor

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised, high‑efficiency operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Materials Handling Supervisor to lead the maintenance of our conveyor and material handling systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost‑effective plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance for breaches and lead by example to maintain a safe work environment.
• Oversee refurbishment and routine maintenance of conveyor systems in line with the Environmental Management Plan.
• Execute timely conveyor maintenance, review and approve shaft maintenance items, and ensure compliance with refurbishment execution plans.
• Control maintenance processes to avoid cost and schedule overruns while meeting safety, budget, and quality targets.
• Provide accurate progress reports on schedule, cost, and quality to senior management.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager to verify safety, operability, maintainability, and reliability of new builds.
• Monitor completion of shaft refurbishment and operational readiness activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising maintenance technicians in a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and environmental compliance.
• Ability to coordinate training, monitor quality, and manage complex maintenance schedules.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
