M&E Director for Regional Food Market Programme

About the role

The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Director will lead the M&E function for a five‑year programme that supports production and trade in staple food markets across Ghana, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Niger. Based in Accra, the role involves regular travel to partner countries and close collaboration with donors, governments and private sector partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive M&E framework for the programme’s two main components – the Challenge Fund and the Policy Facility.
• Collect, analyse and report on quantitative and qualitative data to assess business model performance, market outcomes and policy impacts.
• Provide evidence‑based recommendations to improve agricultural production, marketing models and regional trade policies.
• Coordinate with field teams, government agencies and external consultants to ensure data quality and timely reporting.
• Lead knowledge‑sharing activities, including workshops, policy briefs and advocacy materials.

Required profile

• Fluent in both French and English.
• Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation for agricultural or development programmes.
• Strong understanding of regional food markets, trade policies and private‑sector development.
• Willingness to travel frequently within West Africa.
