Mechanical Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks a Mechanical Superintendent to lead the Surface Mine Infrastructure maintenance programme. The role ensures plant availability, safety and cost‑effectiveness across all mechanical assets supporting the underground operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the safety management plan for construction and refurbishment works, aligning with AGA’s Integrated Management System.
• Provide technical input to the Maintenance Lead and collaborate with Safety, Refurbishment, Planning, Technical Services and Construction managers.
• Review and enforce safety standards, work practices, HSE regulations and conduct inspections, audits and Job Hazard Analyses.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses and incidents promptly, creating action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Identify and deliver safety training to enable safe execution of tasks.
• Optimise energy consumption per unit of production and drive continuous improvement of design and field safety performance.
• Ensure the organisational structure supports the mechanical maintenance strategy and communicate policies effectively.
• Guide sub‑ordinates in leadership techniques to achieve operational objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Proven ability to lead safety‑critical projects and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and integrated management systems.
• Self‑motivated, results‑oriented and capable of working in a fast‑paced, mechanised mining setting.
