Mechanical Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead the maintenance of surface mine infrastructure. The role focuses on maximizing plant availability, ensuring safety, and supporting sustainable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement mechanical maintenance strategies for surface mine assets.
• Lead safety management for all infrastructure works, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and internal standards.
• Provide technical input to the Maintenance Lead and collaborate with refurbishment, planning, and construction managers.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses to maintain a safe working environment.
• Investigate incidents, develop corrective actions, and deliver targeted safety training.
• Optimize energy consumption and drive continuous improvement in design and field safety performance.
• Communicate policies and procedures effectively to achieve full compliance.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 7 years (84 months) of relevant experience.
• Proven leadership in mechanical maintenance within a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and safety management systems.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders.
