Mechanical Technician – Fixed Plant

About the role

The Mechanical Technician – Fixed Plant is responsible for inspecting, repairing, overhauling and installing fixed‑plant equipment such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, mills and screens. The role ensures equipment availability and reliability so production targets are met while adhering to Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environment standards.

Key responsibilities

• Apply Newmont HSE policies, maintain tool housekeeping and participate in daily safety leadership.
• Identify and eliminate safety hazards caused by mechanical defects.
• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, including condition monitoring and reliability improvement.
• Inspect, repair, rebuild, assemble and install key mechanical equipment and components.
• Use hand tools, portable electrical tools, workshop equipment and precision measuring tools safely.
• Test repaired equipment, complete shift handovers, record maintenance data and provide technical support to the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and controlling maintenance costs.

Required profile

• Understanding of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance practices.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and auxiliary mechanical systems.
• Ability to work safely with hand and power tools and follow detailed procedures.
• Commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
