Mechanical Technician – Mining Infrastructure

About the role

The Mechanical Technician – Mining Infrastructure is responsible for safe, reliable and efficient inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and testing of refrigeration plants, ventilation fans, pumps, compressors and related mechanical systems at the Obuasi Gold Mine.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on rotating equipment and associated mechanical systems.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, overhauls and precision maintenance such as alignment, bearing replacement and seal replacement.
• Conduct risk assessments, follow permit‑to‑work and isolation procedures, and report hazards or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, provide feedback on work orders and support equipment reliability analysis.
• Participate in planned shutdowns, equipment failure investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Technician II Certificate, associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field.
• 1‑2 years of hands‑on experience maintaining refrigeration plants, ventilation fans, compressors or similar heavy‑industrial equipment, preferably in mining.
• Knowledge of Ghana Minerals and Mining regulations is an advantage.

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of rotating equipment.
• Precision alignment, bearing and seal replacement, impeller inspection.
• Use of mechanical tools, precision measuring instruments, torque tools and condition‑monitoring devices.
• Ability to read and follow OEM recommendations, SOPs and engineering standards.
