Shiftboss – Underground Mining Operations

About the role

The Shiftboss leads quality assurance and control for underground ore extraction at the Obuasi Mine, ensuring compliance with legislation and project standards while supporting the transition to steady‑state operations.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate at least 90% of time to site safety compliance and maintain a 90% underground presence.
• Validate designs, conduct risk assessments, and enforce QA/QC and contractor engagement processes for vertical and lateral development.
• Coordinate project execution within assigned mining blocks, participate in planning forums, and provide inputs to capital project tracking.
• Drive continuous improvement, support business improvement initiatives, and ensure adherence to project documentation and work instructions.

Required profile

• BSc or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Underground Shiftboss Certificate of Competivity (or equivalent) as required by the Minerals Commission.
• 2‑5 years underground mining experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Valid Ghanaian manual driver’s licence and physical fitness to meet site medical requirements.

• Strong written and verbal communication for planning and documentation.
• Analytical ability to interpret data and make tactical decisions.
