Mine Captain – Production

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. The Mine Captain – Production will lead quality assurance, risk management and contractor engagement for ore extraction activities, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly production plan (4‑3‑2‑1) aligned with budgeted priorities.
• Prepare and submit the annual cost‑centre budget to achieve approved production outputs.
• Deliver production results within approved budget, timeframes, cost targets and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote a strong safety, health and sustainability culture.
• Provide systems, resources and expertise to develop the production team.
• Drive project implementation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to deliver the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
• Broad leadership, managerial and technical competence in underground mining.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret data for tactical decisions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mining software (advanced application).
• Advanced safety risk identification and mitigation.
• In‑depth knowledge of underground mining production processes and practices.
