Mine Captain – Production

About the role

The Mine Captain – Production will lead quality assurance, control and risk management for underground ore extraction at Obuasi Gold Mine, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor engagement processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly production plan, identifying priorities, milestones and events.
• Prepare and submit the annual cost‑centre budget and deliver production within approved budget, timeframes and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote a culture of safety, health and sustainable development.
• Provide systems, resources and expertise to develop the production team and ensure consistent delivery of budgeted outputs.
• Drive implementation of projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives within the mining department.
• Maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders to collaboratively deliver the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
• Valid Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency or equivalent as required by the Minerals Commission.

Required skills

• Mining QA/QC and risk‑management expertise.
• Advanced use of mining software for production planning and monitoring.
• Safety risk identification and mitigation (advanced application).
• Knowledge of mining production processes and practices (advanced application).
