Project Director, AFGHS-FHI 360 Ghana

About the role

FHI 360 is recruiting a Project Director for the America First Global Health Strategy (AFGHS-FHI 360) project in Ghana, based in Accra. The project is funded by the US Department of State and focuses on HIV/AIDS and global health security. The Project Director provides overall leadership, management and strategic direction of the project, reporting to the Program Director, Asia C/Africa D, and works in close collaboration with the AFGHS-FHI 360 headquarters team.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the project vision, design, planning and implementation so that goals and objectives are met within the time frame and contractual parameters.
• Ensure internal management systems for contracting, recruitment and delivery, and respond quickly to service delivery needs on the ground.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with government entities, implementing partners, local organizations and donors, and lead milestone and performance management.
• Provide leadership to project staff in a matrixed structure, covering onboarding, performance management, professional development and accountability.
• Work with HQ on annual work plans, milestone plans and budgets, and act as the primary contact with the HQ team and with DOS Ghana staff.
• Oversee technical and management reviews, monitoring and evaluation systems, and capacity-building initiatives with local partners.
• Potentially serve as FHI 360's Country Representative and join the Ghana Senior Leadership Team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology or a related field.
• Open to Ghana nationals and residents of Ghana with independent work authorization.
• Experience at executive level (about 10 years).
