Purchasing Agent – Local Procurement (Tema, Ghana)

About the role

The Purchasing Agent will manage the local procurement process for BURN’s manufacturing and commercial teams in the Accra‑Tema region. The role ensures timely acquisition of quality goods and services while maintaining cost efficiency, supplier relationships, and compliance with global procurement policies.

Key responsibilities

• Place and manage purchase orders with local material and indirect suppliers, ensuring on‑time delivery.
• Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), evaluate bids, and present recommendations.
• Conduct market research and vendor due‑diligence to identify potential suppliers.
• Convert end‑user requests into procurement requests and purchase orders, securing approvals and follow‑ups.
• Coordinate with warehouse and office staff to plan inbound deliveries and optimize logistics.
• Maintain strong communication with suppliers and support engineering and warehouse teams in procuring spare parts and consumables.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and filing systems.
• Update weekly cash forecasts to align supplier payment schedules with negotiated terms.
• Assist in vendor appraisals and performance analysis for continuous improvement.
• Negotiate best payment terms and pricing for goods and services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably within manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of procurement best practices, vendor management and contract negotiation.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
