Regional Head of Operations – West & South Africa

About the role

Pacific International Lines is seeking a senior leader to direct vessel and portside operations across West and South Africa. Based in Accra, the Regional Head of Operations will ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective maritime services while driving performance against operational KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead vessel operations for coastal and mainline routes, coordinating with local agencies, central planning and the global marine desk.
• Oversee safe handling of special cargo (project cargo, OOG) and ensure stowage plans meet IMDG and safety standards.
• Act as senior escalation point for operational disruptions and vessel emergencies, liaising with authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with terminal operators, port authorities, pilotage and husbandry providers.
• Optimize berthing plans, port productivity and vessel turnaround time to improve Terminal Velocity.
• Develop and execute regional contingency plans, managing port omissions, delays and deviations.
• Partner with Head Office Liner Operations on schedule integrity and network adjustments.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in marine or maritime operations.
• Strong track record of managing multi‑location teams and complex stakeholder networks.
• Ability to make rapid decisions under pressure and drive continuous improvement.
