Senior ICT Assistant

About the role

The Senior ICT Assistant will support both academic and administrative functions by developing, maintaining and integrating web‑based systems across the university. This role works closely with faculty, staff and IT teams to ensure reliable, secure and efficient digital services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy web applications for university operations.
• Maintain and upgrade existing systems, including legacy software, Student Information Systems (SIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Integrate third‑party APIs and internal databases to streamline data flow between Finance, Academic Affairs and Examination units.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, performance tuning and monitor system logs to resolve bottlenecks.
• Implement data‑security best practices to protect sensitive student and research information.
• Gather technical requirements from stakeholders and produce documentation and training materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in ICT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least four years of experience as an ICT Assistant or in a comparable role within a similar institution.
• Professionalism, high initiative, resourcefulness and sound judgement.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript (Node.js).
• SQL database design and management: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and integration techniques.
• Modern web frameworks: React, Angular.
